Abstract
Language attitudes are one of the important factors that influence language choices in social interactions, especially in border areas where various cultures and national identities meet. This research aims to analyze the language attitudes of people in the border region between Indonesia and Malaysia, with a focus on the use of Indonesian, Malaysian Malay and local languages. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach by collecting data through interviews and observation. The research results show that the language attitudes of border communities are influenced by factors such as national identity, media access, and cross-border communication needs. People tend to have a positive attitude towards Indonesian as a formal language, while local languages are maintained as cultural identities. It is hoped that these findings can contribute to a deeper understanding of language dynamics in border areas and their implications for language policy.
