Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia caused by defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both.Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by increased blood sugar levels (hyperglycemia) due to defects in insulin secretion and insulin action.Therefore, it is important for sufferers to carry out self-care consistently. In orderto support self-care for diabetes sufferers, knowledge and skills are needed as wellas support from family and health workers. If self-care is formed effectively, it can help maintain health in diabetes sufferers. Objective: This study aims to examine
changes in self-care behavior in patients suffering from type 2 diabetes mellitus using Dorothea Orem's approach. Method: In this study, qualitative descriptive analysis techniques were used to focus attention on problems which were then used for actual problem solving as the research was carried out. Results: obtained after participants were given education in the form of information about type 2 diabetes mellitus and nutritional diet education also supported patients. in taking care of oneself independently, namely changes in better self-care behavior, regulation of diet and exercise. Most of the self-care deficits that occur in diabetes sufferers so far are due to a lack of knowledge and information about the many things that need to be changed and regulated in diabetes mellitus management behavior.
