Abstract

The rapid advancement of technology in the digital era has significantly impacted various sectors of life, including the restaurant business. Implementing the right information system can enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and the quality of services provided to customers. This study aims to develop a real-time Point of Sales (POS) application based on a website using the Personal Extreme Programming (PXP) approach. The application of the PXP method is expected to facilitate the development of a more flexible system that meets users' needs and improves business operational performance.
PXP was chosen for its flexibility in addressing changing customer needs and its ability to be implemented individually for small-scale projects. In this study, the POS system was developed with features such as menu management, transaction processing, table management, stock control, and real-time notifications. System testing was conducted using the black-box testing method, which focuses on evaluating the system's functionality to ensure it aligns with user requirements.
The results indicate that the real-time POS application effectively reduces transaction processing time and enhances restaurant operational efficiency. The implementation of websockets as a real-time connector between users and the system significantly sped up the order processing and status tracking. Additionally, the web-based platform allows users easy access without the need to install additional applications. Hence, this application provides a practical solution for restaurants facing the increasingly competitive industry challenges.
