The subjects of this research were school residents (grade 4 students, teachers, principals, representatives for curriculum and student affairs) at SD Muhammadiyah Birrul Walidain Kudus. The results of the research show that (1) The implementation of research on the Literacy Movement and Reading Ability of students at Muhammadiyah Birrul Walidain Kudus Elementary School has three stages, namely the habituation, development and learning stages (2) In implementation there are several factors inhibiting the implementation of the school literacy movement, namely lack of enthusiasm and students' interest in reading, lack of literacy activists in schools, lack of support from the social environment in learning and reading books, especially parents and students' friends, and infrastructure facilities that are less than representative. (3) There is an increase in the school literacy movement program for the reading ability of grade 4 students at SD Muhammadiyah Birrul Walidain Kudus.
