Abstract

Internationalization of the Indonesian language requires teacher participation, so a positive teacher language attitude is needed in internationalization efforts. The aim of this research is to describe teachers' language attitudes towards the internationalization of Indonesian at Muhammadiyah Bantaeng schools. This research design is descriptive qualitative analysis. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and interviews, as well as collecting data through posts on respondents' social media. The respondents in this study were 12 Indonesian language teachers, each from a different school. This research uses content analysis techniques, namely analyzing the content and meaning of the data and phenomenological analysis, namely analyzing subjective experiences. The data is analyzed by identifying the teacher's language attitudes. The results of this research show that the acceptance, understanding and assessment of teachers manifest loyalty and pride regarding the importance of internationalization of Indonesian, awareness of the challenges faced, and motivation to support the process of internationalization of Indonesian. Indonesian language teachers at the Muhammadiyah Bantaeng school have good knowledge (cognitive) and feelings (affective), but they do not match their actions (conative). Because these three components are not in line, in this research behavior or actions cannot be used to determine language attitudes. The experiences that teachers gain in their lives cause the relationship between the three components to be inconsistent. Indonesian language teachers at Muhammadiyah Bantaeng schools continue to have a positive attitude towards the internationalization of the Indonesian language, including towards its internationalization efforts.
