Abstract

Background: One of the challenges in treating bronchopneumonia in children is their inability to cough up phlegm effectively. The therapy that has been given for this problem is with a nebulizer, but with a nebulizer alone it is still less effective in coughing up phlegm in pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia. The inability to cough up phlegm is partly due to the lack of knowledge of some nurses regarding effective coughing techniques. While effective coughing itself can help optimize phlegm that is difficult to cough up.
Method: Qualitative research with case study research design. The selection of participants is based on the criteria that have been set in this study. The number of participants is one participant. Data collection in this study uses interview, observation, and documentation techniques.
Result: After the nebulizer intervention and effective cough training were given to child A, the results obtained could be evaluated, namely increased effective cough, decreased sputum production, and decreased dyspnea.
Conclusion: Nebulizer and effective cough interventions have been shown to improve airway clearance in child patients with bronchopneumonia.
