Abstract

The study explores the diversity of ferns and validates the feasibility of the fern E-atlas, which is designed to integrate Islamic values into biology subjects, thereby enhancing the learning experience by combining scientific knowledge with spiritual insights. The purpose of this study is to inventory the types of fern plants in the Tarakan City Protected Forest Area, validate the feasibility and practicality of the E-atlas developed. The research method used is the Research & Development Model Borg & Gall (1983) with a qualitative descriptive approach to inventory ferns and a quantitative approach for the development of E-atlas. The results of the research on the inventory of fern plant diversity, found as many as 14 types of fern plants, namely; Asplenium nidus, Blechnopsis orientalis, Microlepia marginata, Pteridium esculentum, Sticherus truncatus, Dicranopteris linearis, Palhinhaea cernua, Lygodium microphyllum, Nephrolepis biserrata, Stenochlaena palustris, Plagiogyria adnata, Platycerium superbum, Pronephrium perangianum and Selaginella doederleinii. Then the E-atlas was developed through a feasibility validation process by material experts, media experts and linguists. The results of the validation of the feasibility of the material integrated with Islamic values scored 89.23%, while the validation of biology material received a score of 92%. Media validation scored 80%, while language validation achieved a perfect score of 100%, confirming its communicative clarity and effectiveness. Feedback from biology teachers and students in Tarakan City shows the practicality of E-attlas, with a practicality score of 90% from teachers and 90.12% from students. The fern e-atlas has successfully integrated Islamic values into biology subjects. This innovative approach can be used as a model for future educational materials that aim to bridge scientific and religious knowledge, thus providing a balanced educational experience that nourishes the mind and soul.
