Abstract
Backgorund : Heart failure is known as Heart Failure (HF) with a condition that cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's metabolic needs. In addition, heart failure may decrease the effectiveness of ventricular filling (diastolic dysfunction) or myocardial contractility (systolic dysfunction). Heart failure is characterized by
early symptoms that occur, namely pulmonary congestion which is influenced by pressure overload that increases pulmonary pressure and consequently dyspnea (shortness of breath). Diuretics are the main therapy used to reduce peripheral edema or fluid overload. The use of diuretic therapy can reduce shortness of breath. In the case of heart failure, compensation leads to excessive sodium and water
retention which can lead to pulmonary and systemic congestion.
Objective : To observe and describe the pattern of furosemide use including type, dosage, route, frequency, and duration of administration given and associated with laboratory data and clinical data in heart failure patients at RSUD R.T. Notopuro Sidoarjo.
Method : This study was conducted observational and descriptive, with
retrospective and descriptive data collection.
Result and Conclusions : The single use pattern was 63 patients (32%), combination 2 was 75 patterns (38%). The most common single-use pattern was furosemide (3x20mg) iv with 26 patterns (41%), a combination of 2 furosemide (3x20mg) iv + spironolactone (1x25mg) po with 22 patterns (29%). There were 57
switch patterns.
