Abstract
Education aimed to help students develop essential skills and values. Exam pressures, such as college entrance exams, could lead to overidentification and decreased self-compassion, particularly in students with competitive traits and a high need for achievement. This could result in anxiety and fear of failure. Social support from family, friends, and significant others could alleviate anxiety and enhance self-confidence. This study examined the impact of social support on self-compassion in Grade XII of senior high school students preparing for college entrance exams. A correlational quantitative method was used with 171 respondents, utilizing the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) and the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS). Multiple regression analysis revealed that social support, particularly from family, significantly contributed to enhancing students' self-compassion. These findings highlighted the importance of social support in fostering self-compassion, with recommendations for students to actively communicate with family and friends and seek opportunities for personal development.
