Abstract
Background: Refractive errors can be defined as abnormalities in the focusing of light on the retina that cause blurred vision (Ezinne et al., 2020). The most common refractive disorders are myopia, astigmatism and hypermetropia (Yuanitasari, Sedani and Ni Wayan Winianti, 2022). Blindness and visual impairment reduce a person's ability to work, live daily life, and spend time (Lange et al., 2021).
Objective: To determine the effect of refractive disorders on the quality of life of students at the Faculty of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Malang.
Method: Analytical observational with cross sectional method. The research sample size was determined using the comparative bivariate categorical formula. The research sample consisted of 51 samples of people. This research uses a questionnaire. Then bivariate and univariate analyzes were carried out using the Spearman test.
Results: There is a significant relationship between refractive errors and quality of life, namely the test obtained a p value of 0.019 so p<0.05. There is a relationship between refractive errors and quality of life.
Conclusion: There is a relationship between refractive errors and the quality of life of medical faculty students at Muhammadiyah University in Malang.
