Abstract

The low student learning outcomes in the integer addition are due to the conventional learning process using lecture method and teacher as the main center so students tend to be more passive in learning mathematics. The purpose of this research is to describe the application of bead media in improving the learning outcomes of integer addition in sixth grade students at SD Negeri Miagan, Jombang.
This research used 20 sixth grade students at SD Negeri Miagan as a subject and was carried out in 2 cycles. Each cycle includes planning, implementation, observation, evaluation and reflection. Data collection techniques include tests, observations and documentation, while data collection tools include tests and observation sheets. The indicator in this research is an increasing average student learning outcome minimum 75 point with a minimum classical learning completion percentage of 75%. The results of this research show that, from the cycle I, average student learning outcome was 69.75 with learning completeness of 50%. In cycle II, the average student learning outcome was 81.50 with learning completeness 90%. So it can be concluded that the learning method with beads can improve the learning outcomes of sixth grade students on the integer addition at SD Negeri Miagan.
