Abstract

Nurses often face high work pressure due to demanding schedules, diverse patient conditions, and the expectation to deliver high-quality care. This pressure can lead to prolonged stress, negatively affecting their mental health, happiness, life satisfaction, and ability to provide optimal care. To address this issue, nurses require psychological support that does not interfere with their work schedules. Digital-based interventions offer an efficient, flexible, cost-effective solution, providing greater accessibility, privacy, and reduced stigma compared to traditional face-to-face therapy. This study aims to find out the effectiveness of digital-based Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in reducing work stress and improving the psychological well-being of hospital nurses. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed. Ten nurses were randomly divided into two groups: an intervention group (n=5), which received digital SFBT for four weeks, and a control group (n=5), which did not receive any intervention. Stress levels were measured before and after the intervention using the Expanded Nurse Stress Scale, while psychological well-being was assessed with Ryff’s Psychological Well-Being Scales. The results showed that digital SFBT significantly reduced nurses' work stress (Z = -2.023; p = 0.043). Additionally, Pearson's correlation analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between work stress and psychological well-being (r = -0.675; p < 0.05), indicating that lower stress levels correspond to higher psychological well-being and vice versa. Digital SFBT, with its focus on solution-building and goal-setting, empowers nurses to better manage work-related stress and enhances their overall quality of life.
