Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic experienced by countries around the world has had a huge impact. The implementation of regional lockdown status stops community activities, both from government agencies, private companies, entrepreneurs, transportation, tourism, education, and many other sectors. The impact of the pandemic has caused people to stop working because all activities are temporarily suspended to prevent the spread of the virus, especially for tourism which must also be closed so that no visitors still go out just for a vacation. With the closure of tourist attractions, it has a big impact on workers in the tourism sector because they have to stop working for a while for the good of them and the people of Indonesia. Because of this, workers must think about how they can survive and fulfill their needs during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research aims to find out the survival strategies of tourism workers affected by the pandemic. The research method used in writing this thesis is to use a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The subject determination technique uses purposive sampling. Data were collected through direct interviews, observation, and documentation. This research was analyzed using the theory of survival mechanisms by James Scott. The results showed that tourism workers use different survival strategies depending on their needs and abilities. There are three strategies, namely the first active strategy where the subject has a side job and sells valuables, the second is a passive strategy where the subject saves expenses, and the last is a social network strategy by asking for help from relatives or neighbors.
