Abstract

Abstract. The rapid development of globalization stimulates multinational organizations to carry out expatriation programs in order to encourage competitiveness and development of institutions. The challenges of facing cultural diversity and limited social support during expatriation become an essential role in achieving a prosperous life. This research aims to explore the role of cultural intelligence and social support as factors for an expatriate in maintaining stability and flourishing in his international assignment. This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The participants in this research consisted of 3 Indonesian expatriates who worked at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Prague who were currently aged 41 – 53 years. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews. Data analysis using interactive models. The coding technique in the results of this research highlights three main dimensions, namely cultural intelligence, social support and flourishing, which are divided into 11 categories and 29 sub-categories. The findings in this research show that cultural intelligence and social support are fundamental factors in realizing happiness, comfort, life goals and life satisfaction for expatriates.
