Abstract
The food crisis is one of the issues that the world is focusing on. Zimbabwe is a country that has experienced several economic and environmental shocks that have contributed to high levels of food insecurity and malnutrition. The beginning of the food crisis in Zimbabwe was caused by hyperinflation which was then followed by drought, HIV/AIDS, and natural disasters. The food crisis that occurred made WFP as an international organization in the humanitarian field have the responsibility to respond and overcome the food crisis that occurred. This research uses the concept of international organizations to see the role played by WFP. This type of research is descriptive in describing the role of WFP and the Zimbabwean food crisis, where data obtained through literature studies. This study found that the role played by WFP in 2019 was the role of an instrument, where WFP was used as a tool or means by the Zimbabwean government in achieving its country's goal of sustainable socio-economic transformation by making the 2017-2021 Country Strategic Plan (CSP). Then the role as an arena, WFP plays a role by opening a forum or Executive Board (EB) meeting and facilitating Zimbabwe to become a member of the EB. In addition, WFP's role as an actor, where WFP forms a CSP policy which is a strategic plan policy for Zimbabwe and is in line with Zimbabwe's national policy, namely sustainable socio economic transformation.
