France is a country that upholds secularism. Secularism or what we usually understand as secular is an understanding that basically separates religious affairs from state affairs. The state thinks that freedom of opinion to protect the feelings of certain communities can weaken national unity. This began with the emergence of immigrants in France who were initially welcomed, but after the WTC attack in the United States on September 11, 2001 the perception of the French public at that time changed to a negative view. From that emerged several anti-Islamic sentiments that began to grow in several European countries, especially France. Then French President Emmanuel Macron issued an anti-separatism law to support the secular system in France. This study aims to explain the efforts made by France to deal with Islamic extremist ideology. This study uses an explanatory method in presenting the data, and the data is obtained from a literature study. This research shows that France's effort to overcome this is by strengthening French secular law to fight radical Islam through laws whose contents allow people to adhere to whatever religion they choose, but external displays of religion will be prohibited in schools and some services. public. In addition to the bill, France is also participating in helping fight extremism in other countries.
