Abstract

The increasing needs of life that must be met make the number of women who work is increasing to help the family economy. Many studies have shown that job characteristics can affect the psychological well-being of working women. Previous studies have examined more specific subjects in certain sectors such as the education sector, health sector and industry. Psychological well-being is a state of individuals accepting themselves as they are, being able to form warm relationships with others, having independence in social pressure, being able to control the external environment, having a meaning of life and being able to realize their potential consistently. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in psychological well-being in women who work in the formal sector and the informal sector. This research is a quantitative research with comparative test. The scale used is Ryff's psychological well-being as a tool to measure psychological well-being. The sampling technique in the study used a non-probability sampling technique with an accidental sampling method. The number of subjects in this study was 170 people, namely 80 women working in the formal sector and 90 women working in the informal sector. The results of the Independent t-test show that there is a significant difference between the psychological well-being of women who work in the formal sector and women who work in the informal sector.
