Abstract

The number of stunting in Indonesia becomes particular concern with the high value. The roles of the family are the focus in efforts to overcome stunting cases, especially the gap in roles between men and women. Indonesia occupies at the third position in the world that experiences fatherless condition, namely the lack of fathers' role in child care. The lack of a father's role is of course closely related to the patriarchal culture that exists in Sukorejo District, Pasuruan Regency. A culture that places women as the party who has full responsibility for the domestic area specially for caring the children who are stunted. This research discusses about the form of gender gaps in efforts to deal with stunting. The theories of Marxist feminism and Islamic feminism are used in this research. This type of research uses qualitative with a Robert K. Yin case study approach. Data collection uses in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Key informants were taken from health workers who deal with stunting and resource persons were parents who had stunted children based on the purposive principle. The aim of this research is to reveal gender gaps in stunting management. The results of this research shows that the gender gap that occurs results in the process of handling stunting not being optimal. The processes that should be together between father and mother, but it is not distributed well. It is ultimately results in a gender gap in handling stunting. The main aspect of masrxist feminism views men as owners of capital because they have access to public space and work, while women are those whose position is only as workers in the domestic arena. In Islamic feminism itself, it is understood that women are oppressed as a result of narratives that are interpreted in a tendentious and gender-biased manner from the verses of the Koran and hadith.
