Abstract
Literacy skills are very influential on the achievement of student learning success. The better the literacy ability, the better the achievement of learning outcomes. The earlier students are literate, the stronger the achievement of learning outcomes. The literacy movement can be done well when learning is done face-to-face, especially for elementary school (SD) students. However, the face-toface learning situation is still not possible to implement. As per the policy in Circular Letter Number 4 of 2020 of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) regarding the Implementation of Education Policies in the Emergency Period for the Spread of Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) which contains directions on the learning process from home. This is one of the basics for the need for a more in-depth study of the school literacy movement during learning from home for elementary students. Therefore, writing this article aims to describe the school literacy movement during learning from home for elementary school students. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The instruments used are observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The research subjects were 1 principal, 3 elementary school teachers, and 2 parents and guardians of students from Mojorejo 1 Elementary School, Batu City, Indonesia. The results showed that the literacy movement during BDR was implemented virtually. When conducting synchronous online learning, the teacher provides 10 minutes and reading material for the literacy movement. However, when asynchronous, students are given the task of reading several types of books that have been determined by the teacher. The literacy movement during BDR for elementary school students requires good cooperation between schools, teachers, and guardians of students.
