Abstract
The difficulty of France's integration process towards the Muslim minority in the country shows a shift in the meaning of Laicite. French politicians use aggressive means in the name of Laicite to legalize their discrimination against Muslim minorities. This exploratory research aims to explain and reveal the relationship and causes of French discrimination with their social identity. The analysis is based on Social Identity theory and the concept of social integration. The result of this research is that there is a correlation or causal relationship between France's discriminatory attitude towards Muslim minorities in their country and their social identity. France as an in group has a bias towards their internal group and looks down on the existing out group, namely French Muslims. France did not achieve success indicators in their integration efforts as evidenced by forced assimilation and discrimination. France's integration of its Muslim minority did not find a bright spot with the aggressive Laicite that forced Muslims to leave their religion.
