Abstract

Narcotics abuse in Indonesia continues to be a serious problem that has a negative impact on society, especially with the increasing number of cases every year. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) plays an important role in efforts to eradicate and investigate narcotics abuse, especially in Batu City. This research aims to analyze investigative actions carried out by BNN in verifying the truth of reports related to Class I narcotics abuse. This research uses empirical methods with a juridical-sociological approach, data was obtained through interviews with BNN Batu City investigators. The research results show that the Batu City BNN carries out a series of investigative procedures consisting of receiving reports, initial verification, collecting evidence, as well as investigative actions in the field. Even though this procedure has been carried out in accordance with applicable regulations, several obstacles were found, such as limited resources and invalid reports from the community. These obstacles often slow down the investigation process and impact the effectiveness of case handling. This research also highlights the importance of strengthening cooperation between BNN and the community in providing accurate information to speed up the investigation process. The conclusion of this research is that although BNN has adequate mechanisms for handling reports of narcotics abuse, there is
still room for improvement in terms of resources and community involvement. Recommendations for this research include improving training for investigating officers, further use of technology, and improving report verification mechanisms to increase the effectiveness of investigations in Batu City.
