Abstract

Batota’s landfill is a final waste disposal site located in Sangatta Utara District, Kutai Timur Regency, covering an area of 5.2 hectares. Currently, TPA Batota operates using the Open Dumping method, a system that involves open waste dumping. The waste managed at this site comes from three districts: Sangatta Utara, Sangatta Selatan, and Swarga Bara. Based on a survey conducted over eight consecutive days, the waste generated in the service area of TPA Batota amounts to 0.483 kg/person/day. To improve waste management efficiency and reduce environmental impact, a development plan has been proposed to transition TPA Batota from Open Dumping to a Sanitary Landfill system. This new system will be implemented in three phases, with a total storage capacity of 220,875 m³. Each phase will have dimensions of 140 m x 50 m x 15 m.
