Abstract
Sengon plantations in Wagir, Malang Regency, are important agricultural environments worthy of study due to their role in the local ecosystem and economy. This research aims to identify the diversity of soil macrofauna within these sengon plantations and understand its relationship with sengon tree growth.
The survey method was employed to collect data using pitfall traps as the primary tool. The collected data were then analyzed to depict the state of soil macrofauna diversity in the plantations. This study was conducted in June 2024 at the UMM Biology laboratory.
The research results indicate that the differences in environment between the two research locations in the Sengon Wagir plantation play a crucial role in determining the diversity of soil macrofauna. Locations with more optimal environmental conditions tend to have higher levels of diversity. For example, in Location One, various soil macrofauna such as Red Ants B, Large Black Ants, Grasshoppers, and Cocopets were found, while in Location Two, soil macrofauna species including Large Red Ants, Large Black Ants, Grasshoppers, and Spiders were observed. Analysis of the soil macrofauna diversity index shows that both research locations have relatively similar levels of diversity, but there are slight differences in dominance and individual distribution. Nevertheless, the diversity of soil macrofauna species such as Red Ants B, Large Red Ants, Grasshoppers, and Cocopets remains important in maintaining the balance of the Sengon Wagir plantation ecosystem.
