Abstract
Transportation plays a crucial role in regional development, especially in Indonesia, which is an archipelagic country with limited access to land transport. One mode of transportation that remains essential today is water transportation, both maritime and riverine. In this context, ports serve as entry points and connections between regions, islands, and countries. Kayong Utara Regency, predominantly traversed by river routes, utilizes water transportation through speedboats and vessels to access remote areas. Although the existing docks have been used for loading and unloading activities, their functionality is still not optimal. Therefore, the construction of a new dock in Teluk Batang is planned to enhance transportation accessibility and support economic growth. This new dock is expected to accommodate larger vessels, meet community needs, and facilitate loading and unloading activities, thereby significantly increasing the contribution of water transportation to the regional economy. The development of the Teluk Batang dock is based on the continuous growth of the area over time, leading to an increasing demand for transportation. Given that water transportation is the primary mode for the local community, the current dock does not sufficiently meet these needs. The old dock cannot accommodate large vessels, necessitating the development of a new dock to ensure that larger ships can dock optimally.
