Abstract

Language skills in children are very important for children to have when interacting with others so that messages can be conveyed properly. The impact of children who experience language skills problems is that children become slow in interacting with others due to lack of parental support. Therefore, intervention is needed to improve their language skills, one of which is using positive reinforcement. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of positive reinforcement with audio-visual media to improve children's language skills. The research method used was quantitative research with an experimental approach that provided a treatment with a total sampling of 5 elementary school students aged 7-8 years. The sample used was purposive sampling, data was collected through pre-test and post-test using language skills questions in children. The results of this study indicate that positive reinforcement with audio-visual media is effective in improving children's language skills as indicated by a p value of 0.034 <0.05. For further research, audio-visual media can be used as an intervention for children who have problems with language skills.
