Abstract

The study of Juanda Airport development planning aims to address the rapid growth of
Indonesia's aviation industry by evaluating critical infrastructure elements such as runways,
taxiways, aprons, and drainage systems. This research highlights the importance of runway
extension and capacity enhancement to accommodate larger aircraft like the Airbus A380-800,
which the current infrastructure is unable to support. Additionally, the development of new taxiways
is needed to improve efficiency and infrastructure resilience in handling heavier aircraft, while apron
expansion will enable greater parking capacity for aircraft and better serve passenger and cargo
needs. Alongside infrastructure expansion, the drainage system must also be optimized to address
changes in soil conditions caused by the increased surface area for flight operations, which may
reduce water absorption. An effective drainage system will ensure operational safety at the airport,
particularly in preventing water pooling that could disrupt take-off and landing processes. The use
of technologies such as FAARFIELD 2.0 in the planning of apron thickness and area is also proposed
to ensure compliance with international standards. This study underscores the importance of
integrated infrastructure development to support the future growth of the airport.
