Abstract
Background: Aloe vera, caffeine, and vitamins if combined in topical preparation will produce synergistic effects as anti-acne. Those three active ingredients if formulated as emulges would be very good because the emulgel has non-adhesive properties, easy to spread, and gives a cold sensation. The low oil content in the emulger will accelerate the healing process of acne caused by the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus.
Objective: To know the activity of staphylococcus aureus bacteria in preparation of aloe vera emulge, caffeine, and vitamin E with gelling agent levels and judgment on the best formulation.
Methods: The research was conducted using experimental methods, with concentrations of Aloe vera, caffeine and vitamin E as active ingredients in the formulation against the antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus.
Results and Conclusions: The results of the antibacterial activity test showed that the preparation of the emulger has antibacteric activity against Staphylococcus aureus. The diameter of the barrier zone of the emulgate preparation averages 8.95 ± 0.65 mm, while on the gel base the result averages 9.39 ±0.29 mm. Both have the
same antibacterial activity that belongs to moderate. The presence of the active ingredient does not affect the antibacterial activity of the preparation.
