Abstract

Background: Aloe vera, caffeine, and vitamin E have activity as moisturizers and antioxidants on dry facial skin. The preparation was made in emulgel form with the humectant base glycerin because it can form a better preparation.
Objective: To determine the effect of varying levels of the humectant base glycerin on emulgel moisturizer preparations with the active ingredients aloe vera, caffeine and vitamin E which are able to produce the best preparation using the Freeze thaw test.
Method: This research uses experimental methods. This type of research was carried out to determine the effect of variations in humectant levels of 10% in Formula 1, 20% in Formula 2 and 30% in Formula 3 as a humectant base in emulgel moisturizer preparations which were then tested for their characteristics and
stability.
Results and Conclusions: Variations in glycerin levels in emulgel moisturizer preparations with the active ingredients aloe vera, caffeine, and vitamin E influence the characteristics of the preparation in the form of organoleptics, homogeneity, pH,
viscosity, and spreadability as well as influence the stability test as proven by the Freeze thaw test.
