Abstract
Technology Assembly Model is employed to enhance the quality and
production of Apis mellifera L. Honey utilizing Acacia crassicarpa feed.
A.mellifera honey bee breeders in Siak Regency, Riau Province face problems with
honey quality and production. Among the factors that influence honey quality and
production are harvest time, food source plants, and livestock management. Based
on these causal factors, this research aims to analyze the influence of harvest time,
age of the A, crassicarpa plant, and the interaction of both of factors on the quality
and production of A. mellifera bee honey and to develop a technological assembly
model for improving the quality and production of honey based on harvest time,
age of A. crassicarpa, and local knowledge of breeders in managing A.mellifera
beekeeping. The research hypothesis is that the harvest time, age of A. crassicarpa,
and the interaction between harvest time and age of A. crassicarpa have a
significant effect on honey quality and production. Phase I research analyzed the
composition and production of nectar from Acacia crassicarpa plants aged 3, 8 and
18 months, as well as environmental characteristics of beekeeping locations, phase
II analyzed the influence of harvest time, age of A. crassicarpa and their
interactions on the quality and production of A. mellifera honey, Stage III
preparation of a technological assembly model for improving the quality and
production of A. mellifera honey. The age of the A. crassicarpa plant has a
significant effect on the composition and production of extrafloral nectar.
Microclimate variables influence the amount of nectar secreted by A. crassicarpa.
Harvest time, plant age and the interaction between the two influence the quality of
honey, while only plant age influences honey production. The best harvest time for
honey quality is 30 days with plant ages of 8 months, while the best plant age for
honey production is 18 months. The technological assembly model for increasing
the quality and production of A. mellifera honey is a minimum harvest time of 30
days with A. crassicarpa plants 8 to 18 months, and beekeeping management which
includes proper arrangement of bee combs, optimal harvesting method and time,
use of bee boxes super, and treating colonies from pests and weather, as well as
enriching pollen source plants.
