Abstract

Forest and land fires are one of the biggest threats that need to be faced in the management of the Tanjung Puting National Park Area. This threat is becoming increasingly complex because the condition of the area which mostly consists of forests and peatlands, which have a high level of vulnerability to fire. The purpose of this study is to identify the role of the Orangutan Foundation International (OFI) in improving management efforts and its influence in improving and handling the conservation of the Tanjung Puting National Park area in West Kotawaringin. In this study, the author uses qualitative descriptive research, namely providing an overview and explanation of the role of OFI in handling the Tanjung Puting National Park Area in West Kotawaringin, with qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques, where data is obtained from literature studies obtained from sources such as books, journals, e-books, news and internet sources that are relevant to this study. OFI has shown strong and good dedication and commitment in the management and protection of Tanjung Puting National Park. Through animal rescue efforts, research, and education programs for the community, they have succeeded in increasing public awareness of the importance of preserving forests and the species that live in them. However, to ensure long-term conservation success, further collaboration is needed between government, OFI, local communities and industry players to address the many challenges that remain in the area.
