Abstract

Background : Typhoid fever or commonly called typhoid is a disease caused by bacterial infection and attacks the human digestive system. Typhoid fever is transmitted through food or drink contaminated with Salmonella typhi bacteria, besides that this disease can be transmitted through feces, urine or secretions of peoplewithtyphoidfever. Indonesiahasthehighestprevalenceinages1-14years (1.9%), ages 1-4 years (1.6%), ages 15-24 years (1.5%) and ages <1 year (0.8%). Inadditiontochildren,adolescentsarealsoatriskoftyphoidfever,theyhavemany activities so they pay less attention to clean and healthy living behaviors such as eating out, not paying attention to health, nutritional content, food processing and presentation of the instant food they consume.
Research Objective : To determine the relationship between the level of knowledgeandthepreventionoftyphoidfeverinundergraduatestudentsofFIKES and non-FIKES UMM.
Methods : This study uses non-experimental descriptive research with a survey design using a cross-sectional approach design. Sampling using non-probability sampling type with purposive sampling technique.
ResultsandConclusion: InresearchthathasbeenconductedattheUniversityof Muhammadiyah Malang involving 164 respondents shows that there is no relationship between the level of knowledge with the prevention of typhoid fever with a significance value of p = 0.305 ≥ from p value (0.05).
