Abstract
Unbalance and drop voltage problems that can disrupt the performance of train
electrical systems are unavoidable due to various factors. Unbalance voltage is
caused by variations in the load of traction motors, auxiliary equipment, and
cooling systems, while voltage sag can occur due to disturbances in the power
distribution system. This research aims to develop a compensation system based on
a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR) to overcome these problems. The DVR is
designed using a model predictive control algorithm and equipped with an energy
storage system. Through simulations, the performance of the DVR in improving
voltage profile and increasing power quality in diesel trains has been successfully
demonstrated. The results of this study show that the DVR can be an effective
solution to improve the reliability of the electrical system of diesel trains and make
a significant contribution to the development of more efficient and environmentally
friendly transportation.
