Abstract
Pencak Silat schools in Indonesia have aspects contained in them, such as pencak silat as an art, pencak silat as a sport, and spiritual mental pencak silat. Meditation as a form of mental and spiritual pencak silat training helps martial artists have a good personality and be useful to those around them. The purpose of this research is to find out and explore meditation activities as a form of communication in gaining strength and character formation of members of the Kuntu Mancilan Pencak Silat College, Pasuruan City. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type and the basis of the research is phenomenological. Using the foundation of J. William C. Schutz's intrapersonal communication theory (1958), which is often associated with Firo's theory. Data collection techniques in this research used observation, interviews and documentation. Researchers used purposive sampling techniques to determine research subjects. The results of the research show that the existence of meditation as a form of communication in the Kuntu Mancilan Pencak Silat College in Pasuruan City can help the martial artists there gain strength and shape their mentality and character to become tougher like a tough warrior. As well as making a person useful for himself and the community around him.
