Abstract

The number of divorce cases will cause someone to experience pressure, the psychological impact will be attached to development with the early adult range, namely students. Broken
home is an incomplete family condition caused by divorce or abandonment by parents, causing
individual emotions to become unstable. This results in the condition of individual psychological well being being being disturbed. Psychological well being is a positive psychological state characterized by having a harmonious relationship with others. One of the factors that influence psychological well being is emotional intelligence. This study aims to
look at the relationship between emotional intelligence and psychological well being in victims of broken homes. The research method uses quantitative methods. The technique in sampling
using purposive sampling with 138 subjects. The sample criteria are final semester students and active students of psychology UMM. This research instrument uses psychological well being scale and emotional intelligence scale. Data analysis using Pearson's product moment correlation test. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant positive relationship
between emotional intelligence and psychological well being in victims of broken homes with a
value of (r = 0.625). This proves that the higher the emotional intelligence, the higher the psychological well being.
