Abstract
On Monday, March 3, 2023 Joe Biden as President of the United States approved the Willow oil drilling project which is worth about $8 billion to be implemented immediately. The Willow oil drilling project is an oil management by a company called ConocoPhillips located in Alaska, United States. This research is expected to find out how the local community responds to the rejection of the Willow project and the support of International Organizations in stopping the project. In this study, researchers used a qualitative exploratory method using Scholte's Global Civil Society theory. This project has raised a lot of controversy from various circles and organizations engaged in climate change because this project can produce around 287 million metric tons of carbon emissions into the atmosphere every 30 years. Regarding this project, many global communities and international organizations hope that this project will be reviewed or better stopped.
