Abstract

Nutmeg seeds are widely used as a flavoring in food, besides that they can be distilled and
produce essential oil which is used to mix cosmetics and medicines. Nutmeg is divided into 4
types of parts, namely seeds, mace, nutmeg skin and nutmeg flesh. Nutmeg seed waste from
distilling essential oils reached 89.58% of the total raw materials. This research is important
to carry out so that nutmeg waste can be managed optimally, so that it does not trigger
environmental pollution, especially in the environment around waste disposal. This research
aims to determine the interaction of waste storage time, particle size (4 and 40 mesh), and the
best combination of nutmeg refining waste (Myristica fragrans Houtt) for making fertilizer.
The parameters used in this research are the proximate test (ash content, water content, volatile
content, C-bound), pH, and Pb content. Data analysis using two way annova on all parameters
and descriptive quantitative analysis to analyze Pb metal content with the AAS instrument
where this analysis describes or describes the data shown by the AAS instrument. Based on the
research results, the storage time of 30 days with a particle size of 40 mesh and the storage
time of 60 days with the size of 40 mesh have the best potential to be used as organic fertilizer.
Storage time and waste particle size have a significant effect on the chemical properties of
nutmeg refining waste.
