Abstract

Self-disclosure is a communication activity carried out by individuals to reveal
information about themselves that is hidden or not to others. This systematic
review aims to analyse 7 SINTA and Scimago accredited journals regarding the
impact of adolescents making self-disclosures. The results of this systematic
review show that the benefits of self-disclosure are that it reduces the value of
delinquency behaviour by adolescents, the level of resilience increases, the high
level of social interaction is carried out by adolescents, the value of subjective
well-being also increases, and the involvement of self-disclosure in moderating
relationships between the frequency of SNS (social media) use and adjustment
indicators. The results of this systematic review provide recommendations for
researching the benefits and risks of self-disclosure on social media among
adolescents in Indonesia.
