Abstract

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine is one of the hot topics currently being discussed internationally. President Vladimir Putin's decision to send Russian military forces to Ukraine on February 24, 2022 was the beginning of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, as of today when this research was compiled, the conflict between the two countries is still ongoing. This research uses descriptive research methods with qualitative data analysis techniques and library research techniques that collect data through books, reports, journals, e-books, working papers, articles, and online news related to the research problem. This research also uses International Sanctions Theory and the Concept of Energy Security Regime. This research is motivated by Russia's invasion of Ukraine which then triggered the European Union to impose sanctions against Russia. The results of this study show that the economic sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia have an impact on Germany's energy security, especially in economic and social aspects. The EU sanctions against Russia have forced Germany to face an energy crisis due to its dependence on Russian natural gas and oil.
