Abstract
Background: Lung cancer is a primary malignant tumor originating from the
respiratory tract or bronchial epithelium. The occurrence of cancer is
characterized by abnormal, uncontrolled cell growth that damages normal tissue
cells.
Method: The final scholarly paper for Nursing utilizes a research design employing
a case study approach to explore nursing care issues in patients with lung cancer,
involving assessment, establishing nursing diagnoses, developing plans,
implementing nursing interventions, and conducting patient evaluations.
Results: Nursing care using the Florence Nightingale model can be applied to
patients with pleural effusion, as it primarily emphasizes the environment. The
implementation has been conducted based on the theory by researchers, covering
thirteen aspects of assessment. The issues identified in Mrs. Y with lung cancer
include ineffective airway clearance, disturbed sleep patterns, and activity
intolerance.
Conclusion: Implementation using a basic nursing theory approach certainly
requires recommendations that can be applied in both hospital and community
settings. This includes providing education on ensuring comfort during sleep, such
as turning off the lights and playing Quranic recitations (murotal).
