Abstract
Background: Prevention of nosocomial infections requires integrated planning,
monitoring and patient contact transmission awareness programs. The spread of
nosocomial infections can be prevented by providing separate treatment rooms for patients
who are prone to infection and infection, maintaining good and correct hand hygiene.
Washing hands is an easy and effective way to prevent infection and protect patients while
in hospital
Method: the research method used in preparing this nurse's final scientific work uses a case
study report, the author follows the scientific method according to the rules of the nursing
process which includes: assessment, data analysis, nursing intervention, implementation
and evaluation, in the review process the author uses various data collection techniques as
well as anamnesis, observation, documentation studies.
Results: The results obtained from the research showed that 52% of families did not wash
their hands well and correctly. After counseling, good results were obtained with a
percentage of 92% because the patient's family was able to know and practice the 6 steps
and 5 moments of washing hands..
Discussion: the nursing problem of family non-compliance in washing hands which is
caused by not washing hands with the standard 6 steps and 5 moments of washing hands.
Actions that have been taken by counseling nurses and teaching how to wash hands with 6
steps and 5 moments of washing hands, it is not enough just to do this. Therefore, the
recommendation that is needed for the patient's family is for a nurse to be in the room to
supervise and teach families who are not yet embarrassed about washing their hands in 6
steps and 5 moments.
