Abstract
Plumbum is a bluish-gray metallic element that can contaminate water and
organisms like fish. If humans consume fish with plumbum (Pb) content above the
quality standard threshold, it can endanger human health. This research aims to
determine the level of plumbum (Pb) content in the water and flesh of tilapia
(Oreochromis mossambicus) in Sutami Reservoir and to use the research findings as a
biology learning resource. This research is of a descriptive nature with a quantitative
approach and was conducted in April 2023. Water and fish flesh samples were collected
at three stations in Sutami Reservoir, Sumber Pucung Sub-District. The testing of
plumbum (Pb) content was performed at the Chemistry Laboratory of Brawijaya
University using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The research results
indicate that the plumbum (Pb) levels in the river water at stations 1, 2, and 3 were 0.08
mg/L, 0.38 mg/L, and 0.54 mg/L, respectively. These plumbum (Pb) levels exceeded
the maximum permissible limit, thus not meeting the requirements of Government
Regulation (PP) Number 82 of 2010. Meanwhile, in the tilapia (Oreochromis
mossambicus) flesh samples from all three stations, no plumbum content was detected,
complying with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) number 7387:2009 regarding
the maximum limits for heavy metal contamination in fish and its products. The
plumbum (Pb) content in the fish was 0.3 mg/kg.
