On September 2, 2021, the glorification of the liberation of Saipul Jamil received public criticism
and many residents boycotted Saipul Jamil as a pedophile not to appear on television. The purpose
of this research is to get an overview of how Detik and IDN Times frame the news about the
glorification of Saipul Jamil. The data in this study were obtained from various reports about
Saipul Jamil's glorification that appeared on Detik and IDN Times news portals, and were
analyzed using Robert N. Entman's framing model through four categories, namely define
problems, diagnose cause, make moral judgment, and treatment recommendation. The results of
the study show that the news regarding the glorification case on Detik.com emphasizes the
importance of choosing ethical shows and maintaining public order, not glorifying the cases of his
release even though the views on Saipul Jamil and the decision to release him differ. Meanwhile,
IDN Times has news that gives the impression of giving Saipul Jamil a second chance, however,
IDN Times does not justify the existence of media glorification related to the release of Saipul
Jamil.
