Abstract

This research aims to determine the use of smartboards as a medium in teaching junior high school mathematics by teachers with indicators, namely: (1) frequency of use of smartboards; (2) use of smartboard as a tool; and (3) use of smartboards in learning materials; and knowing the teacher's mastery in using the smartboard in learning with indicators, namely (1) being able to operate the smartboard; (2) able to overcome obstacles that occur; (3) able to integrate smartboards in the learning process. This research was conducted at SMPN 1 in the 2023/2024 academic year. The subjects of this research were 4 mathematics teachers, namely 2 class VII teachers and 2 class VIII teachers. This research includes qualitative research with descriptive research type. The instruments used were observation and
interviews. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The research results showed that (1) one class VII teacher and one class VIII teacher often used a smartboard, another class VII teacher used a smartboard quite often, and another class VIII teacher did not use a smartboard very
often. When using a smartboard, the applications that are often used are: SMART Notebook, Microsoft Powerpoint, Google. Other applications used include: Microsoft Edge and Photos. All teachers utilize smartboards by using these applications in mathematics learning as learning aids that facilitate the learning process and also using certain applications which are an integral part of the mathematics learning material itself. (2) All teachers have good control over the use of smartboards in learning. All teachers are able to operate the smartboard well, all teachers can overcome the obstacles that occur when using the smartboard well. All teachers are able to integrate smartboards in the learning process.
