Abstract
The structure of the new Porong River railway bridge requires Abutments
and pillars with strong foundations. This bridge uses a bored pile foundation.
The new bridge for this double track railway project is on predominantly sandy
soil with an average N-SPT value of 50, located at a depth of 39.36 meters. The
planning and type of substructure (foundation) need to be carefully calculated
to avoid settlement due to forces acting on the structure above. This can be
overcome by using a drilled pile foundation which will transfer the working
forces into the soil layer below the foundation. The bearing capacity of the
foundation is influenced by variables such as cohesion (c), unit weight (y), and
soil shear angle (p). The location of hard soil can be determined using the
Standard Penetration Test (SPT) which will be the basis for calculating the
bearing capacity of drilled piles. The writing of this final project is focused on
the planning study of bored piles on the Abutment (A2) located at KM 49+242
and the supporting pillars (P3) located at KM 49+166 of the new Porong River
railway bridge in the Mojokerto–Sepanjang double track project.
