Abstract

In the workplace, numerous challenges can emerge, including heavy workloads, unresolved disagreements, and conflicts with colleagues. These can be overwhelming and lead to anxiety about job responsibilities, resulting in work-related stress. The adversity quotient can indicate employees' attitudes and capabilities in handling stressors, determining whether they can effectively overcome them. This study aims to investigate the impact of the adversity quotient on work stress experienced by employees working in coal mining companies. The study involved 200 participants employed in coal mine companies. The sampling technique used a convenience sampling. The tools utilized in this study included the Adversity Response Profile scale and the Job Stress scale. Simple linear regression analysis techniques were used to conduct this research and was found that the Adversity Quotient has a detrimental impact on work stress for employees both working in the office and the field with the respective regression values for those working in the office Y = 93.809 – 0.376X and those working in the field Y = 63.155 – 0.110X.
