Abstract

Early adulthood is a period where individuals experience many problems due to many changes, one of which is physical changes such as the appearance of acne on the body. Individuals who feel satisfied with themselves without paying attention to other people's judgments are one of the factors for happiness, but society's perspective on themselves will affect the desire to compare themselves with others, thus creating the concept of body image. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of body image on happiness in early adults who experience acne vulgaris. The sampling technique used in this study was quota sampling involving 272 early adult female participants who experienced acne vulgaris or acne. The results of the simple linear regression test research obtained a significant value, which means that there is an influence of body image on happiness in early adults who experience acne vulgaris. The influence of body image variables on happiness variables provides an effective contribution of 9.5%. The implication of this research is the findings that can be a reference and provide insight to early adults who experience acne vulgaris in order to become a better person in assessing their body which will have an impact on the happiness of each individual.
