Abstract
Background: Liver cirrhosis is the final stage of chronic liver disease with various causes. Liver cirrhosis is characterized by fibrosis and nodular regeneration leading to liver necrosis and decreased liver function. Throughout the world, cirrhosis is the seventh leading cause of death. Cirrhosis of the liver causes various complications, one of which is ascites. Ascites is an accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. Ascites fluid
contains protein so it is good for bacterial growth. Ascites is the cause of SBP, all ascites patients are at risk of developing SBP. SBP is an ascitic fluid infection that must be treated with antibiotics. Seftriakson is an antibiotic that is used empirically for the treatment of Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP) at.
Objective: To determine the pattern of use of Seftriakson in cirrhosis patients with Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis(SBP) at RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung and studied the Seftriakson therapy pattern regarding the dose given, route of administration, interval of administration, and duration of administration which was linked to clinical data at RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung.
Method: This research is observational, namely in the form of a retrospective study with a consecutive sampling method in liver cirrhosis patients with Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis (SBP) for the period 1 January to 31 December 2022.
Results and Conclusions: Usage Profile of single antibiotic therapy using seftriakson (96%), combination 2 (4%). The single antibiotic that is widely used is the third generation cephalosporin group, seftriakson (2x1g) i.v (96%), and a combination of 2 (seftriakson 2x1g i.v + levofloxacin 1x750mg i.v). Meanwhile, the switch pattern in 10 patients (16%) was mostly sefotaksim (2x1g) i.v - seftriakson (2x1g) i.v in 3 patients (3%). Use of dosage, route of administration, interval of administration, and duration of administration of seftriakson given to liver cirrhosis patients with SBP (Spontaneous Bacterial Peritonitis) at the inpatient installation of RSUD dr. Iskak Tulungagung is appropriate according to several existing guidelines.
