Abstract

Adolescence is an important period in individual development characterized by identity search and increased social interaction. One important aspect of adolescent social interaction is social interest, which is interest and involvement in social activities. Emotional maturity, which refers to an individual's ability to manage and understand their emotions, is one of the factors that can influence social interest. Gender can influence how emotional maturity and social interest interact with each other. Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of emotional maturity on social interest in adolescents, as well as how gender moderates the relationship. The sampling technique used Disproportionate Stratified Random Sampling with a sample size of 150 subjects. The measuring instrument used to measure social interest is SSSI (Social Interest Scale of Sulliman) and the measuring instrument for emotional maturity is (EMS) Emotional Maturity Scale. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of emotional maturity on social interest. Emotional maturity on social interest has a positive significant effect (p = 0.003, p < 0.05). Emotional maturity on social interest moderated by gender has a positive significant effect (p = 0.000, p <0.05).
