Abstract

Adolescence is a crucial period in individual development characterized by significant social and emotional transitions. One important aspect in this phase is the development of social interest, which is influenced by various factors including attachment to parental figures and peers. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between attachment (independent variable), social interest (dependent variable), and emotional maturity as a moderating variable in adolescents. The study subjects consisted of 118 high school students selected using Disproportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using tested measuring instruments, namely the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) to measure attachment, the Scale of Social Interest (SSSI) to measure social interest, and the Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS) to measure emotional maturity. Data were analyzed using correlational methods and moderated regression analysis. The results of the analysis showed a significant positive relationship between attachment and social interest (β = 0.251, p = 0.006). In addition, emotional maturity also moderated this relationship significantly (β = 0.948, p = 0.019), strengthening the effect of attachment on social interest.
