Abstract

This research contains the important role played by Islamic women activists in supporting the achievement of the SDGs, including sustainable development goals such as eliminating poverty, education, gender equality and health, etc. Aisyiyah and Muslimat, as autonomous organizations from Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama, have demonstrated positive contributions in various aspects of the SDGs through various programs and initiatives. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews with main sources consisting of Aisyiyah and Muslimat administrators in Malang City. Apart from that, participatory observation and analysis of organizational documents were also carried out to obtain a comprehensive picture of the contributions of the two organizations. This research uses social construction theory by Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann as the main theoretical framework. This theory explains how social reality is formed through social interaction and the process of internalizing collectively agreed values and norms. In the context of this research, social construction helps understand how Islamic women's activism shapes and changes perceptions and social norms regarding the role of women and gender equality in society. The research results show that Aisyiyah and Muslimat make a significant contribution to the implementation of the SDGs. Aisyiyah has succeeded in increasing access and quality of education, supporting public health, and promoting gender equality through various social, educational and health programs. Muslimat, even though it does not have special programs on several SDGs points, still contributes through the independent efforts of its members in eradicating poverty and maintaining a clean environment. Overall, this research reveals that the social construction of Islamic women's activism in Malang City plays an important role in supporting the achievement of the SDGs, showing a strong commitment to human values and Islamic teachings that encourage social justice and prosperity.
